1. Tell us a little about yourself
I started my virtual CFO firm shortly after receiving my CPA license, about 8 years ago. During that time I married my husband and now business partner and also gave birth to my son. We dream of living in a log cabin eventually and hope to continue growing the business.
2. What made you go into accounting?
I've always loved entrepreneurship and the field of accounting allowed me to see the behind-the-scenes financials of businesses. It also helps that I had two amazing accounting teachers in high school who made a typically boring topic very interesting and dare I say..fun! I was also heavily influenced by my dad who was worried about me graduating around our last recession.
3. What are some of your greatest challenges and accomplishments?
One of my greatest challenges has been moving from one-woman shop to having 5 other employees and a few contractors on the team. Delegating was hard for me at the beginning and still something I'm working on getting better at. Along those lines, one of my biggest accomplishments is being able to grow the team from 1 to 6 in the past couple of years and allowing others the flexibility I've enjoyed when it comes to work-life balance.
4. What are your hobbies or current side projects that you have going on?
After a failed attempt at growing tomatoes last year, I've been learning as much as possible about gardening and tomatoes in hopes of actually producing some delicious tomatoes. With help from my husband, we just build my first raised bed garden and I check on it multiple times a day! On the business front, I've got a course for new small business owners called Be Your Own CFO that I created a few years ago and I'm excited to spend some time revamping it.
5. What is the best way for people to connect with you?
